Facebook: Courageous Girls
Courageous Girls, launched in 2014, is a foundation dedicated to healing and empowering sexually abused girls through physical, creative and personal adventures. The pinnacle of Courageous Girls” efforts provides a group of strong young women the opportunity to join a guided trek to base camp on Mount Everest and prove to the world – and themselves – that nothing can hold them back. (They got their 501c3 status in about three weeks.)
Courageous Girls’ mission is to heal, honor and empower girls through adventure.
Our vision is a world in which survivors of sexual abuse realize they have the power to achieve anything and believe that nothing can hold them back from the beautiful life they deserve.
During the summer of 2014, Courageous Girls, with the help of other Bay Area resources, selected a group of young sexual violence survivors to learn mountaineering skills and go through rigorous training with the goal of trekking to Mt. Everest’s Base Camp in 2015. Along the way they will learn to heal, love and realize that anything is possible, regardless of their pasts.
The climb to Base Camp at Mt. Everest is one of the most difficult things a person can do. But the entire trek would be nearly impossible without sponsors who truly believe in the Courageous Girls cause. We’re currently looking for people/companies who can help us with Equipment, Clothing, Training, Transportation, Financial Assistance.
But don’t let the list above stop you if you want to help. We’re happy to talk with anyone interested in assisting victims of sexual violence – no matter how much or little you think you can do. Help us help these young women heal and grow. The start of every journey begins with a single step. For information on sponsorship opportunities, contact us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
