Experience of David G Marmon as a Believer

  • My Christian heritage goes back to the Huguenots in the 1600’s.
  • My grandfather was a minister in the Disciples of Christ denomination. I gave my first sermon at the age of 11. I was vice president of the Christian Youth Fellowship for the state of Kansas.
  • Raised in a Christian home, my mother taught Sunday School, my father was on the church board
  • My first year of college was at Phillips University (Disciples of Christ) in Enid, Oklahoma, preparing for the ministry.
  • I attended the Seventh-day Adventist Wildwood Medical Missionary Institute for six months.
  • I participated in Bill Bright’s (Campus Crusade’s) “I Found It” campaign to reach the unchurched.
  • I have done mission work on six continents.
  • I started and developed a Christian law firm in San Diego, CA (Christian Lawyers of America), reaching out to all the churches in San Diego.
  • I initiated a Christian lawyer referral service so believers could easily find Christian lawyers.
  • At Christian Lawyers of America, we ministered to the San Diego legal community and sent every lawyer in San Diego an envelope full of grass and the scripture referring to “wood, hay, and stubble.” (1 Cor 3:12).
  • I received an honorary doctorate degree for my Christian legal work.
  • I smuggled Bibles into Russia with Brother Andrew and preached to the Underground Church. Read “To Russia with Love.”
  • I went with Christian Emergency Relief Team (CERT) to give health clinics for Nicaraguan refugees on the Miskito Coast of Honduras.
  • With CERT, I also ministered to Mozambiqan refugees in South Africa.
  • I did multiple mission trips and preached in the slums of Lopez Portillo, Mexico City.
  • I evangelized on the streets of Scotland with Horizon Christian Fellowship of San Diego.
  • My wife and I and our four month old baby went to Calcutta for six months to set up a health clinic for those who live on the streets.
  • While in Calcutta, I worked with Mother Teresa in Kalighat, her first home for the destitute and dying. Upon request, I read the Bible to her and her assembled nuns for the Maundy Thursday service before Good Friday.
  • I preached a number of times at St. Andrews Anglican church on Circular Road in Calcutta.
  • I participated in Promise Keepers’ Million Man March in Washington, D.C. in October, 1997
  • I visited Israel and Jerusalem 14 times for the annual pilgrim feasts.

I began serving the Christian community for 501c3s more than 38+ years ago. In 1981, my first client was the “Flying [Missionary] Nurse of the Philippines.” Since then, I have served more than 2800+ startup nonprofits (many of them Christian missions, ministries, and churches) getting them their 501c3 status with the IRS with a 100% success rate.
